So on Saturday we headed to Gramps' for our traditional early Christmas celebration with that side of the family. I struggled all day with feeling a little panicked at the thought of my mom not being there. But we hung in there and did ok. Even had fun. Santa arrived and even though the big kids knew it was just Uncle Dennis dressed up and not the real Santa, they played along for the little kids. Ben was not sure of the guy in the red suit. And Kayla just flat out hated him. Grabbed on to her mom as soon as he walked in the door and didn't let go until he left. Poor girl. We all had yummy food and got some very nice presents. The kids loved everything and are very thankful for each and everything they got.
But still, we missed Nonnie very much. She loved Christmas and loved celebrating with all of her grandchildren. She always called this day Babies Christmas. Even after most of our babies had grown up. Some tears were shed by me (mostly on the way home), but we wouldn't have missed celebrating with family for anything. Merry Christmas guys. And Merry Christmas Nonnie. We love you all very much.
