That's right. Shawn is eight years old. Wow! We kicked off the celebrations with lunch at Red Robin with Grandma and Poppy after Shawn's baseball game on Saturday. For the record, Shawn kicked butt at baseball this week. Two big hits and some really good fielding. WTG Shawn. At Red Robin we had some yummy food and then the servers came and sang to Shawn. He was so embarrassed. Told us he didn't like that at all. But he was a good sport and I think the free sundae was worth it. After some embarrassment he opened his presents, awesome Legos some clothes and a gift card from Grandmom Weezie.
We said our thanks and then it was off to wait for party time. Shawn invited just a few friends to sleepover for his birthday. Unfortunately only a couple could make it and only one could stay over, but that didn't stop Shawn from having a blast with his friends. After his one friend left, his other friend and he watched Yogi Bear (which btw Shawn said is the funniest movie ever) and then they were asleep by 10:30. Nice!
Shawn's sleepover friend left bright and early on Sunday and then it was time for presents from Mom and Dad. He was so cute when he opened everything. He ooooohed and ahhhhed over everything. So glad he liked what we got him.
Shawn spent some time playing with his new stuff and before you knew it Gram and Pappy came over for more birthday wishes and of course his birthday spanks. Oh, and some birthday money that he had to go right out and spend. I didn't expect anything less. Oh and I can't forget the birthday calls from Gramps and our Kautsch cousins! Shawn picked Panera bread for dinner and is currently downstairs watching Yogi Bear (the funniest movie ever) again. I think he had a great weekend and an awesome birthday. Thanks to everyone who helped Shawn celebrate. Shawn is spoiled by your love and generosity.
And now comes the time when I tell you that I can't believe my baby boy is 8. And I can't. Eight. My baby. At eight, Shawn can be fairly inappropriate and quite the smart aleck hole. But he is also super sweet and super funny and just too smart for his own good. He keeps us on our toes and keeps us laughing everyday. I honestly don't know what we would do without him. So Happy Birthday Shawn Robert we love you very much!
